After a C-section, you're likely eager to get back to your normal routine, and that includes simple movements like bending. But when is it safe to bend over without risking your recovery?
While there's no one-size-fits-all answer, the general recommendation is to avoid excessive bending, twisting, and heavy lifting for the first 6-8 weeks. This allows your abdominal muscles and incision to heal properly.
**Early Days (Weeks 1-2):** Focus on gentle movements. Avoid deep bending. Instead, squat or kneel to pick things up. Ask for help whenever possible.
**Weeks 3-6:** You can gradually start incorporating gentle bending, but listen to your body! Stop if you feel any pain or pulling sensation at your incision site.
**Weeks 6-8 and Beyond:** Most women can resume normal bending activities around 6-8 weeks after a C-section, following clearance from their doctor. Continue to be mindful of your body and avoid overdoing it.
**Important Note:** Every woman's recovery is different. Consult with your doctor or physical therapist for personalized advice based on your individual healing progress. They can assess your abdominal strength and provide guidance on when it's safe to resume bending and other activities.
