Sitting Pretty: When Can Babies Sit Up On Their Own?

Watching your baby reach new milestones is incredibly exciting! One eagerly anticipated moment is when they learn to sit up independently. But when exactly does this happen?

Generally, most babies begin to sit up on their own between 6 and 8 months old. Before this, they need to develop the necessary neck, back, and core strength. It's a gradual process. You'll likely see your little one progress from needing support to briefly sitting unsupported, wobbling a bit, and eventually mastering the art of steady sitting.

Before they can sit unsupported, encourage tummy time! This helps strengthen those crucial muscles. Also, providing support with pillows around them while they're practicing can build their confidence and balance.

Remember that every baby develops at their own pace. If you're concerned about your baby's development, don't hesitate to consult with your pediatrician.
