Paws Off! What Foods are a Big NO-NO for Dogs?

We all love spoiling our furry friends, but did you know some common human foods can be seriously harmful to them? Knowing "what can dogs not eat" is crucial for their health and safety.

Chocolate, a treat for us, is toxic to dogs because of theobromine. The darker the chocolate, the more dangerous it is. Onions and garlic, in any form (raw, cooked, powdered), can damage your dog's red blood cells. Grapes and raisins, even in small amounts, can cause kidney failure in some dogs.

Avocados contain persin, which can cause vomiting and diarrhea. Xylitol, an artificial sweetener found in sugar-free gum and candies, is extremely poisonous and can lead to liver failure and seizures. Alcohol, even in small quantities, can severely affect your dog's brain and liver.

Always keep these foods out of your dog's reach and consult your veterinarian immediately if you suspect your dog has ingested something toxic. A little prevention goes a long way in keeping your canine companion happy and healthy!
