Period MIA? Reasons You Might Be Late (Besides Pregnancy!)

That sinking feeling when your period's late can be stressful, especially if pregnancy isn't on your radar. But before you panic, know that a missed period, even when you're not pregnant, is surprisingly common and often due to manageable factors.

Stress is a major culprit. A demanding job, relationship issues, or even travel can throw your hormones off balance. Significant weight fluctuations, either gaining or losing, can also disrupt your menstrual cycle. Intense exercise routines, especially those followed by athletes, can sometimes lead to amenorrhea (absence of menstruation).

Certain medical conditions like Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) or thyroid imbalances are known to affect regularity. Even changes in your birth control method can temporarily alter your cycle.

If your period is consistently irregular or you have other concerning symptoms, it's always best to consult your doctor to rule out any underlying medical issues. They can help determine the cause and recommend the best course of action.
