Jelly-Like Blood Clots During Your Period? When to Worry (and When to Relax!)

Seeing jelly-like blood clots during your period can be a little alarming. But before you panic, let's break it down. Small clots, especially if they're about the size of a dime or smaller, are usually considered normal. They happen when your period is heavier and your body's anticoagulants can't keep up with breaking down the blood quickly enough. Think of it as a little backup plan!

However, *large* clots (quarter-sized or bigger), especially if accompanied by very heavy bleeding that soaks through pads or tampons in an hour or two, could signal an underlying issue. Potential culprits include fibroids, hormonal imbalances, or even miscarriage.

So, when should you worry? If you experience consistently large clots, heavy bleeding, and/or significant pain, it's definitely time to chat with your doctor. They can help determine the cause and recommend the best course of action. Otherwise, a few small clots are likely nothing to stress about!
