Ouch! Why Your Hips are Screaming (and What to Do) During Pregnancy

That familiar pregnancy glow might be accompanied by a less welcome guest: hip pain. You're not alone! Many expectant mothers experience this discomfort, often starting in the second trimester and intensifying as you get closer to your due date.

So, what's the culprit? Hormones! Relaxin, the hormone that loosens your ligaments in preparation for childbirth, also affects the joints in your hips, making them less stable. Add to that the extra weight you're carrying and the shift in your center of gravity, and your hips are definitely feeling the strain.

But don't despair! There are things you can do to ease the pain. Try gentle stretching, like pelvic tilts and hip circles. Maintain good posture while sitting and standing. Sleep on your side with a pillow between your knees. And consider consulting with a physical therapist specializing in prenatal care for personalized exercises and pain management strategies. Remember to always consult with your healthcare provider about any pain or discomfort you experience during pregnancy. You've got this!
