Pregnant-ception: Can You REALLY Get Pregnant While Already Pregnant?

The idea of getting pregnant while already pregnant sounds like something straight out of a science fiction movie, doesn't it? But the short answer is: incredibly, exceptionally, mind-bogglingly rare circumstances aside, no, you can't get pregnant while pregnant.

Here's why: Once you're pregnant, your body undergoes hormonal changes that prevent ovulation. You stop releasing eggs, which means there's nothing for sperm to fertilize. Furthermore, the development of the mucous plug in the cervix creates a physical barrier, making it difficult for sperm to reach the uterus.

While true 'superfetation' (where two eggs from different cycles are fertilized) is practically non-existent in humans after fertilization, extremely rare cases involving delayed implantation *might* occur. However, these are highly debated and poorly documented. So, while the universe loves its surprises, relax – you're (probably!) only growing one little human at a time!
