Burning, But No Blood? Understanding Acute Cystitis Without Hematuria

That uncomfortable burning sensation, the constant urge to pee – it's likely acute cystitis, a common bladder infection. But what if you *don't* see blood in your urine (hematuria)? That's acute cystitis without hematuria, and it's still a valid diagnosis, often indicating a less severe infection.

While hematuria is a common symptom, its absence doesn't mean the infection is any less real or requires less attention. Bacteria, usually E. coli, have still invaded your bladder, causing inflammation and irritation. Common symptoms include frequent urination, painful urination (dysuria), urgency, and pelvic discomfort.

So, what should you do? Consult your doctor. They can perform a urine test to confirm the infection and prescribe antibiotics. Drink plenty of water to flush out the bacteria and avoid bladder irritants like caffeine and alcohol. Ignoring cystitis, even without blood, can lead to complications. Get treated and get relief!
