Congratulations, you've almost reached the finish line! At 39 weeks pregnant, you're officially full-term and baby could arrive any day now. Excitement (and maybe a little anxiety!) are completely normal.
So, what can you expect this week? Baby is likely around the size of a small watermelon and continues to mature their lungs and brain. You might notice decreased fetal movement as space gets tighter. This is usually okay, but always contact your doctor if you're concerned about any changes.
Braxton Hicks contractions might be intensifying, feeling more frequent and sometimes stronger. It can be tricky to distinguish them from real labor contractions. Remember the 5-1-1 rule: Contractions every 5 minutes, lasting for 1 minute each, for at least 1 hour. If this happens, it's time to call your doctor or midwife!
Other common symptoms include continued fatigue, back pain, pelvic pressure, and maybe even a bit of nesting frenzy! Keep resting, hydrating, and listening to your body. Pack (and double-check!) your hospital bag, and try to relax. You're doing great, mama! Baby will be here soon.
