Ouch! Why Does My Stomach Hurt After Sex?

That post-sex glow is great, but stomach pain? Not so much. Experiencing stomach pain after sex is more common than you might think, and thankfully, it's often nothing serious. But understanding the potential causes can ease your mind.

One culprit could be muscle contractions. During orgasm, your uterine muscles contract, which can sometimes lead to cramping similar to menstrual cramps. Dehydration can also exacerbate this, so drink plenty of water.

Another possibility is gas or bloating. Certain sexual positions might compress your abdomen, trapping gas and causing discomfort. If you have underlying gastrointestinal issues like IBS, you might be more prone to post-coital stomach pain.

In rarer cases, underlying conditions like endometriosis or pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) could be the cause. If the pain is severe, persistent, or accompanied by other symptoms like fever or unusual discharge, it's crucial to consult a doctor. Don't suffer in silence! Identifying the cause is the first step towards relief.
