Tom Telesco: A Look Back at His Chargers Tenure

Tom Telesco's tenure as the General Manager of the Los Angeles Chargers spanned over a decade, marked by both promising highs and frustrating lows. Hired in 2013, Telesco inherited a team in transition and was tasked with rebuilding through the draft.

His biggest successes undoubtedly came through draft selections. Landing stars like Joey Bosa, Melvin Ingram, and Keenan Allen are testaments to his eye for talent. He also made bold moves trading up for players like Kenneth Murray, moves that were highly debated at the time and in hindsight proved unsuccessful.

However, Telesco's time with the Chargers was often plagued by inconsistent results and playoff underperformance. Despite assembling talented rosters, the Chargers struggled to consistently compete at the highest level. His contract extensions often raised eyebrows and didn't always pan out. Ultimately, his inability to translate talent into consistent winning led to his departure, leaving a mixed legacy and a team in search of a new direction.
